Our Opportunity
As a System Administrator you diligently apply your technical knowledge in Windows and Linux operating platforms to support and manage enterprise-class, mission-critical managed cloud solutions from multiple datacenters to public and private enterprises in Canada and globally. You are trusted by our customers to respond to and resolve their issues quickly, effectively and with a high standard of service. If hired out of PST, the shift will be 1p-9p PST.
Your focus includes, but is not limited to:
- Managing multiple customer requests spanning multiple technologies.
- Researching, resolving, and responding to customer service requests in a timely manner and in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures and SLAs.
- Providing hands-on support to troubleshoot and provide preventative maintenance on servers, system back-ups and restores.
- Serving as a point of escalation for the Service Desk as required.
- Improving knowledge across the entire Operations team by documenting and sharing information within customer files and the ITSM system.
- Ensuring customer solutions are documented and appropriately maintained.
- Participating in the ITSM and ISMS (Information Security Management Systems) governance processes established by the company.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
- Meeting or exceeding individual and team-based service level targets and KPIs.
- Identifying and supporting continuous service improvement opportunities and initiatives.
- Accomplishing organizational goals by accepting ownership for completing assigned objectives on time and by always looking to provide additional value to the company and its customers.
What You Bring:
- Computer Science degree or equivalent experience/education
- Minimum 2+ years of Linux and/or Windows System Administrator experience.
- LAMP Stack and/or web server administration experience.
- Virtualization experience.
- CDN experience.
- CMS administrative knowledge.
- SSL certificate and domain administration experience.
- DNS knowledge and administrative capability in Windows and Linux.
- Remote connectivity techniques, administration and troubleshooting including: Ping, tracert, telnet, SSH, RDP, sFTP, SCP, RSYNC, VPN
- Knowledge of how to troubleshoot issues via log and service analysis.
- Experience with deploying and managing solutions on public hyperscale clouds.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills are required.
- Self-starter mentality with a passion for learning and an ability to apply knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills are required.
- AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications are an asset.
- ITIL certification an asset.
- Must be able to provide after-hours support when required and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Must be able to pass an enhanced reliability check with Public Services and Procurement Canada.
